About Us

LaFavorites is a fine yarn shop located in Kelso, WA. My name is Amy LaFave and I would like to welcome you to my dream career! In 2004, with my children growing up, I found myself with some extra time on my hands and realized I may be able to have a career outside the home. I had picked up a knitting magazine at the grocery store and read an article about a quaint little knit shop in Hollywood, CA and as they say....the rest is history!

Flying by the seat of my pants and wondering if having a passion for knitting, was reason enough to start a business, I began this journey. With the support of my husband, I proceeded to find a marvelous old, 2500 sq ft house that I filled with many things I love in life… espresso, home decor, and of course YARNS!

After 8-1/2 years of being in our charming old house location, I made a huge decision to move the shop to our downtown district to help the efforts in revitalization and encourage others to do the same. I was nervous about the move, but can honestly say it was a VERY good decision! We have a HUGE space and a ton of room to grow our yarn stash! The sense of community we have been able to accomplish at LaFavorites is astonishing to me and I can’t wait to go to work every single day!

I believe LaFavorites to be the most complete knit shop in SW Washington and have enjoyed shopping the country to bring the finest yarns and accessories to our area. It was my goal to offer not only the quality of yarn that you will not find in a box store, but to offer classes and very personalized, and friendly support from the beginning of a project to the end. We have the latest books and magazines for you to enjoy, along with comfy seating and espresso. We are filled to the brim with amazing brands such as Shibui, Baah Yarns, Debbie Bliss, Mountain Colors, Plymouth Yarns, Universal Yarns, Green Mountain Spinnery, Elsbeth Lavold, Crystal Palace and so many more! In warmer weather we like to enjoy the outdoors and knit in the amazing park next to the building. In the cold, knitting inside next to the electric fire is a serene way to stay cozy while still remaining productive on our projects. I have found that there is no better knitting teacher than a room full of gabbing women all working on different projects! If your travels bring you to the great Pacific Northwest, please stop in….The coffee is always on!
